RUNNING

Okay so this October is The Lake Natomas Four Bridges half marathon and 3 of my friends and I are going to run it together, yahoooo! I wrote about our training schedule on my Health and Wellness page if you want to check that out. Okay so about the training, holy moly am I not used to running!! This past week we started the first 8 week training schedule and while by the looks of it not a brutal schedule, if you are in shape!! I on the contrary used to be in fantastic cardiovascular shape and for the past year have kinda let that go on the back burner!! However apart of being healthy is not just the food we eat it also includes exercise and running is something when I got into it totally loved!  At the moment however I am for sure working back up to that point of loving it and getting that runners high, 1.5 miles at a pace I am happy with is not easy right now but the cool thing is it will be in no time at all and before you know it I will be running 6 miles with no problems at all. This is the awesome thing about running you start out in pain wondering if you will be able to make it 2 miles let alone 9 and gradually you see and feel yourself making progress and it just makes you so proud of yourself. Once you work out all the kinks you are able to kick it into runners high mode, you are able to enjoy the outdoors you are running in you are more able to talk yourself into running on the days you don’t want to and most importunately you know even though you may not be in the mood once you get started you will be happy you did. Running is also a fantastic stress reliever a great way to unwind and also a great problem solver. Meaning if you have something on your mind and you are not sure what to do about the situation or you are not in a particularly good mood, once you go for your run your mind is more clear which enables you to see things differently with your situation and running will also zap that bad mood into a good mood, it is like taking a happy pill! If you want to feel better physically and mentally I suggest taking up running, I think it helps this to be A Wonderful Life!
