GIVING THANKS FOR OUR FREEDOMS

Soon we all will be gathered with family and friends celebrating Thanksgiving! Houses will be filled with the smell of Turkey, potatoes and pumpkin pie. The sounds of chatter, laughter, kids playing and football will also fill the air. At moments throughout the day each of us will be thinking about what we are thankful for this Thanksgiving. While each of us may differ in our answers it’s our freedom that allows us to so.

Giving thanks for our Freedoms this Thanksgiving is so important. And one of those freedoms that I hold near and dear is the freedom of religion. No other country in the world offers such a safe haven. In America you will find many houses of worship, Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, Baptist, Muslim, Lutheran, Protestant, 7th Day Adventist, Jehovah Witnesses, Non-Denominational and so many more! You are free to walk in each house, you don’t have to fear for your life in doing so, and do you even realize the beauty in that? To live in a nation where view points can vary from street to street, person to person, community to community is truly a freedom we shouldn’t take for granted. For most of us it is hard to comprehend any other way of life, but our founding fathers and those that serve and have served in our Military proudly have made sure we can enjoy our freedom to have differences.

So no matter how frustrated you may get that someone doesn’t have the same view point you have or doesn’t worship the same way you do, please at the same time be thankful that those kinds of differences are even possible that we are FREE to have them. So many people around the world have to hide their beliefs and whatever freedoms they are given are no where near the freedoms we have in the USA. So for me this Thanksgiving the Freedom to choose my religion helps this to be A Wonderful Life!
