Okay so I know I am obsessed with Reality TV, gossip magazines and Tabloid news….buuuuuuuuut….really the true stars are those we may never hear about. The fine and heroic men and women of our Armed Forces, Fire Stations, Police and EMT’s, and the countless folks who donate their time and services to charities. Sure it may be fun to get caught up in the lives of the famous folks and to hear all the dirt that goes on in their lives and to talk about what we think is going on in their lives! And really it is one of those things that is so out of our reach that the fantasy of it all is what pulls us in, along with the escape it gives us. But when I take a step back and really look at the big picture, it is the everyday person who truly makes a difference in this world. It’s the person who has made their career about helping and making a difference in life, the aforementioned Military, Police, Fire fighters, EMT and Nonprofit employees and volunteers. These are selfless people who put themselves and their lives behind ours. Day in and day out they see a world that most of us will never see and they are more than happy to fight that fight for the good of the community.

These folks are also your neighbors, co-workers, friends and family who find the time in their busy lives to give back. They take on the care of a family member, they read and visit with Senior Citizens, they play with and give love to animals at shelters, they put on clothing and food drives for those in need, they donate their time to Children’s charities, cancer patients..etc…And they do this not for fame, fortune or to be recognized, they do this because they feel a higher calling for their life, a purpose outside of themselves that also gives self satisfaction. I too am guilty of getting caught up in all that happens in the world of Celebrity but let’s remember that the TRUE STARS and those that really make this world a better place to live are not the folks walking the red carpet it’s the people that are living their life out of the spotlight with no special agenda other than to make a positive difference for those that need it and that’s helps to make this A Wonderful Life!!
