WOW

Truly sickening. My hubby was watching Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and they were doing a story on racism in Soccer. Maybe I am a sheltered American or it could be that I just never watch Soccer. I had no idea how racist all these countries are toward Blacks. I just sat in awe, that kind of behavior would never be tolerated in this country and thank God for that! Sure I get it, I may not like it but I know that racism exists in America but we have our lines that we don’t cross cause it’s just simply uncalled for and unacceptable to treat a person such a way just for the color of their skin.

At the soccer games people in the stands will make Monkey noises, that’s right Monkey noises when a black player has the ball. Not only that but they will throw banana peels on the ground. One player talked about a bunch of spit on his arm  just because he is black. Radical Nazi  groups go to the soccer games flying Nazi flags and doing the stupid Nazi arm bullshit thing and recruit new members while there. They hold signs that read something like ‘Auschwitz is for you, the ovens are your home’….doesn’t that make your stomach turn. Once such groups mission in England is to kick out all people that are Black so England can be nothing but White Christians. Really….REALLY????

You’d think you might be exempt from this hatred if you are an amazing star player, but that isn’t so if your skin is black the haters don’t care how great you are.  And the hatred doesn’t just come from the spectators, the players and coaches are just as guilty. One of the most ignorant things you can do is to hate simply based on the color of someone’s skin. So what is the Wonderful part of this story you ask?? Well just like with any cause that is great although met with opposition, small strides are being made to end this type of racism in soccer having players come together that are against it and some arenas are cracking down on some of the violence with lifetime bans of all games to punish this type of behavior during games. The other plus during this special was the first story about a Welsh Rugby player named Gareth Thomas a  total bad ass and the first Male on any team sport in the world to be openly gay. That took a lot of courage on his part and that my friends is not only inspirational but Wonderful!
